As a women-founded company and all-female team, we are passionate about supporting the Boston community in its efforts to level the playing field and support women entrepreneurs. This week the Version 2.0 team hit the Innovation District for the sold out Mass Innovation Night co-located with Innovation Women’s Women Entrepreneurs’ Evening – an event featuring Boston’s top organizations that support women entrepreneurs. As a member of the “Expert Panel,” Version 2.0 spoke with many aspiring entrepreneurs, female (and male) CEOs and those simply curious to know what PR is all about.
While sporting our “You Can’t Spell Power Without PR” tees, the team gave booth visitors tips on everything from when to consider hiring an agency to how to use video to promote. Many conference attendees were psyched to get the free copy of our eBook “The CEOs Guide to Shameless Self-Promotion” (which you can download here if you missed the event!) and quickly were putting its content to action while networking through the room.
We were excited to see clients from Cintell and Babson’s WIN Lab on the scene as well as folks from the City of Boston’s WEBOS initiative. Also present was Sheryl Marshall, founder of Capital W, whom we worked with to promote the first-ever Boston Women’s Venture Summit in April. That wasn’t all, the room was filled with dozens of powerful women-led companies. Here’s a few that caught our eye:
Beam (@beamwithme): Beam is a simple, private, free app that lets two people share their current locations. Beam puts you and me on a map. The only person who sees you is the person you’ve Beamed. And, you must both agree to Beam before you can see each other.
The Walking Charger (@EHarvesters): The Walking Charger allows users to charge the batteries in their mobile electronics devices anytime, anywhere – just by walking. You can charge your Smartphone battery by walking for just a single hour wearing the Walking Charger device.
Green Piñata Toys: Green Piñata™ is a new way to play and learn. It’s an online toy rental subscription service delivering TOXIN-FREE, educational and fun toys every month!
There’s no doubt that women-founded companies are growing here in Boston and we’re thrilled to be part of it. For a detailed look at some of Boston leading ladies, check out our Version 2.0 infographic “Women Mean Business in Boston.”
