V2 Gives Back: Using our Passion for PR for Good

The V2 team is a group of passionate individuals. Our passions range from the love of our pets and local sports teams to working to secure the next big win for our clients and helping our teammates grow. We are also passionate about positively impacting the world around us, working with innovative companies solving some of society’s most pressing challenges with technology and putting our PR prowess to work for mission-driven organizations doing good.

Because of that passion, V2 has a long history of supporting and working with some of the Boston area’s most impactful nonprofit organizations, including the GreenLight Fund, Horizons for Homeless Children and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts. Recognizing the hunger V2ers have for this type of mission-driven work, we’ve redefined and expanded the ways we do it.

 1. Celebrating our clients using tech for good

First, we work daily with clients developing innovative technology that’s being used for good—from helping utilities work toward decarbonization goals (Uplight) to improving emergency response (Rave Mobile Safety). Another V2 client, UiPath, started the UiPath Foundation to consistently influence the lives and futures of underprivileged families and communities through equal access to education and the development of 21st century skills. We’re looking forward to shining a spotlight on our clients’ important work in future blog posts highlighting their unique missions, technologies and initiatives—stay tuned!

 2. Offering PR bootcamp sessions to mission-driven organizations

Next, V2 is hosting nonprofit PR workshop sessions that provide mission-driven organizations with access to our collective brain power for a mini storyline, brainstorming and PR bootcamp session. Following the session, we’ll provide organizations with a PR toolkit they can leverage on their own, complete with pitch plans, a media list, speaking and award opportunities and ad hoc counseling. We are especially thrilled for our first of these new sessions with Morgan’s Message, co-founded by our own account executive Meaghan Birnie. Morgan’s Message strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics. We’re so excited about these sessions because they provide all V2ers with an opportunity to participate in mission-driven work and give us the chance to support all types of meaningful initiatives.

 3. Encouraging individual contributions—powered by V2 resources

Last (but certainly not least!), V2 encourages employees to leverage V2 resources—like the Muck Rack media database—for any individual contributions they might provide to mission-driven organizations outside of their role at V2. After recently discovering Catchafire, an organization that connects professional volunteers and non-profits, V2ers have provided PR expertise to organizations empowering girls through running, helping young women battling breast cancer and more.

In future “V2 Gives Back” posts, we’ll be profiling the impactful work of our clients, sharing success stories from our nonprofit bootcamps and highlighting the meaningful contributions V2ers are making to mission-driven organizations. And, if the thought of working alongside spirited colleagues who are passionate about this kind of work excites you, check out our core values and learn more about careers at V2.
